General Municipal Elections

The City of Huntington Park conducts general municipal elections in March of odd-numbered years to elect members to serve on the City Council. There are five members of the Huntington Park City Council, each serving a four year term of office. The City is not divided into districts. The four-year terms of office alternate so that two members of City Council are elected at one election and three are elected at the next election.

The City of Huntington Park will conduct its next election on March 7, 2017 to elect two members to the Huntington Park City Council.

During a Municipal Election the City Clerk serves as the Elections Official and is responsible for overseeing the proper application of State Election Code requirements governing the conduct of elections, commencing with the calling of the election by Council resolution, coordination of the candidate nomination process, and concluding with the official canvass and certification of election results.

Any Huntington Park resident may run for public office in the City of Huntington Park if they are a registered voter in the City at the time the City Clerk issues nomination papers.

The City of Huntington Park had 16,797 registered voters as of November 5, 2013.
